How to turn on closed captions on Disney Plus

What subtitles does Disney Plus offer you?


With the Disney Plus subtitles feature, you won't have any difficulty if you watch a movie or series in the original version (so you will be able to appreciate the voices) if you prefer to watch it silently or have access to the content descriptions in text format.

In almost the entire catalog, subtitles, closed captions (CC) and audio are offered in several languages; almost always in the original language of the content (usually in U.S. English) but there are also subtitles in other languages.

According to Disney Plus, for its original content, subtitles and dubbing are available in 16 languages and, for the rest of the content in the catalog, they are available in at least six languages (in order of preference in English, French and Spanish).

And you won't have any inconvenience activating the subtitles because Disney Plus is fully compatible with web browsers, tablets, mobile devices, streaming sticks, Smart TVs, video game consoles, and set-top boxes.

How to enable subtitles in Disney Plus?

To activate closed captioning, log in to your Disney Plus account and choose the content you wish to view.

Secondly, you must click on the button at the top right of your screen.

  • While the movie or series is playing, touch the device's screen.
  • In the upper right corner of the screen three icons will appear, tap the one on the right (with the lines at the bottom).
  • Now, on the right side of the next screen, under "Subtitles", choose the option you want.


  • The first thing to do is to open the Disney Plus application on your cell phone. You can download it automatically here if you don't have it installed.
  • Select the movie or series you want to watch, and once it has started, touch the screen.
  • On the right side of the screen you will see an icon of a box with lines at the bottom, touch it.
  • Now, on the right side of the screen, under "Subtitles", choose the option you want.


  • While the movie or series is playing, press the "Asterisk" button on the device's remote control.
  • Once the options menu appears, select "Subtitles" and press "OK" on the remote control.
  • Choose "On Playback", "Off", or "Always On".
  • Press the "Back" arrow on the remote control, or wait until the options panel disappears.

  • Move the mouse over the screen while the movie or series is playing.
  • In the upper right corner, click on the box icon with lines (at the bottom).
  • On the right side of the screen, under "Subtitles", choose the option you want.

Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV

  • Slide down or up the remote control when the movie or series is playing. If you have a second or third-generation Apple TV, press and hold the centre button.
  • Select the "Settings" icon in the lower right corner.
  • Now, in the "Audio and Subtitles" menu, select "Subtitles". Select the desired option and press the "Back" button on the remote control to return to the movie or series.

Xbox Series X/S or Play Station 5

  • While the movie or series is playing, press the "Down" button.
  • Select the "Menu or Dialog" option in the upper right corner.
  • Choose the subtitle option and return to the playing movie or series.
